With our work, Rebus Community seeks to build a movement of leaders leveraging OER to transform higher education. Rebus’ focus on collaboration and equity within the higher education community is in service of developing an inclusive field that is responsive to diverse educators and learners. As an organization, we have always been dedicated to building a new, collaborative model for open resource creation in partnership with the OER community. Infused in this model are our core values around collaboration, community, equity, care, and respect. By keeping these core values in mind throughout all our approaches, Rebus strives to promote a supportive culture and education system that centers student experience and learning. We believe this focus is critical to creatingimplementing valuable resources, and can have impacts beyond a single resource, individual, classroom, or institution. When completed, the College Success OER textbooks I was curating and developing will have gone through two rigorous rounds of peer review, an accessibility review, and development of an index and glossary. Some of the material seems daunting but the end result of our efforts will now be much better after going through this program. Also, all open access texts will benefit from the higher quality of material that this program promotes. The cross-disciplinary nature of our cohort helped make us realize that we are all in this together to improve education.
